Can the video games sector use tax relief as part of the Polish Investment Zone (PIZ)? Yes it can, and a powerful validation of that comes in the latest investment conducted in cooperation with the KPT. Botticino, as part of the Globant group, has just decided to start business in Kraków. It will invest over $24 million and set up 166 new jobs.
The games sector invests in the PIZ
Making the decision about investing in Poland, Globant follows a clearly defined goal, namely operating in a city where the best game developers can easily be found. Moreover, they are looking for a location that is home to businesses of global renown, with whom they could enter business relationships. Hence, the choice is obvious – it is Kraków,
one of the Globant representatives in Poland says.
The latest investment of the company from the video games sector proves the synergy of the operation of the Kraków Technology Park (KPT). Over 10 years ago, the KPT realised the potential of the games sector, and since then, has developed a range of activities supporting its development. We are the organiser of one of the largest conferences for the sector in this part of Europe – the Digital Dragons. We also run incubation and acceleration programmes, and research the relevant scopes of the market,
Tadeusz Zaremba, KPT President of the Board, informs
Investment outlay exceeding a billion
It is worth emphasising that the investment outlay declared as part of the PIZ in Małopolska and Jędrzejowski County has exceeded PLN 7 billion. This by nearly 1 billion exceeds all the investment concluded under the previous special economic zone programme in over 20 years. And let us remember that the Polish Investment Zone programme has only been with us for four years,
President Zaremba adds.

Comparing the data we can observe several trends – we now have more businesses with Polish capital, and more small and medium-sized entrepreneurs,
Krystyna Sadowska, Director of the Investor Service Department notes.
The Polish Investment Zone (PIZ, Polish acronym PSI) is a form of support for businesses planning new investments. Small, medium-sized, and large entrepreneurs investing in PIZ are eligible to 12- and 15-year tax relief packages for investments located on any grounds, whether private or public. The operator of PIZ in Małopolska and Jędrzejowski County is the Kraków Technology Park – KPT.
