€95 million to be invested by MAN in Małopolska!

€95 million is the value of the new investment by MAN Truck & Bus SE, supported by the Polish Investment Zone in Niepołomice. The memorandum of understanding was signed at the Kraków Technology Park (KPT), and MAN received the decision about support from Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin.

New MAN strategy for 2020–22 assumes the development of the plant in Niepołomice. This will significantly increase the production capacity and employment in the plant, turning it into one of the region’s prime employers. The value of the investment is €95 million production launch after the expansion of the plant is envisaged for September 2022. The facility will employ over 2500 people both on the production line and in administration. The intended average daily production exceeds 300 vehicles and 200 cabs.

MAN has reached a turning point of its history, as it undertakes a complex transformation of the enterprise, determined by the future challenges. The Polish Investment Zone favours development of enterprises in regions

The extension of MAN plant in Niepołomice announced today turns it into a real colossus. For this investment means hundreds, and eventually thousands, of attractive jobs. It means a technological leap and a higher rank in the supply chain for the Niepołomice plant. Finally, it denotes an important step on the road of transformation of our industry towards modernity, competitive edge, and efficiency. This is the apple of my eye, and the purpose of one of the flagship programmes of my ministry. By this token, the Niepołomice Investment Zone is reinforced on its position of Małopolska’s largest industrial zone. By now it has seen investments from 26 businesses, and tax incentives offering benefits to 47 investment projects, of which six are part of the Polish Investment Zone

MAN’s first investment was a milestone in the development of the KPT subzone in Niepołomice, which, to this day, is Małopolska’s largest industrial zone. I am glad that we can again help MAN in increasing the scale and quality of their presence in Poland thanks to the Polish Investment Zone. The significant extension of the production capacity and a high rise in the employment will be accompanied by an investment into an even higher technological intensity of production. The Niepołomice plant will play a significant role in marketing new technologies, and answering the challenges of the future by providing solutions for the megatrends in digitalisation, electro-mobility, and autonomous HGV driving. MAN’s investment

The development of the MAN Trucks plant in Niepołomice is one of key elements of the New MAN strategy. It is based on three pillars: a solid enterprise, a powerful team, and bringing the client to the focus of attention. All these elements will be present in the MAN Trucks plant in Niepołomice.Working in three shifts, the plant will provide a complete portfolio of MAN trucks, ranging from the light via medium to heavy class vehicles, appreciated not only by clients but also by experts and journalists, winners of numerous prizes and plentiful accolade, to mention the international Truck of the Year 2021. The plant will also include the truck modification centre and a cab furnishing assembly hall.

MAN Trucks opened its plant in Niepołomice late in 2007. It has produced heavy class vehicles both for European and non-European markets. By the end of 2020 more than 171,548 semi-trailer trucks and chassis had been produced here.

As Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), we have supported the German investor in obtaining public aid. I believe that this multi-million project will reinforce the position of Poland as the leader of the automotive sector. Poland is a great location for new investments. A proof of that is its economy, doing well among the global slowdown, the powerfully developed logistics sector, educated staff, and proximity of the key markets including Germany and France. The company’s new investment is a win-win strategy: the investor wins, and so does Polish economy, especially the Małopolska Region. The ceremony of presenting the decision about support was held on 10 June at the Kraków Technology Park and attracted the participation of Jarosław Gowin, Vice President of the Council of Ministers; Anna Kornecka, Vice Minister in the Ministry of Development, Labour, and Technology; Michael Kobriger, Member of Board of MAN Truck & Bus SE; Thorsten Campehl, CEO of MAN Trucks; Wojciech Przybylski, President of the Kraków Technology Park, and representatives of local authorities of the Małopolska Region. The decision about support for MAN Truck is the largest investment in the Polish Investment Zone managed by the Kraków Technology Park in this year.
