Digital Dragons 2020 online
Instead of two days we give you four in an established Digital Dragons formula - almost seventy lectures and panels in two sessions (morning and evening), Indie Showcase on Steam & GOG.com, Digital Dragons Awards, business networking opportunities, virtual sponsor booths and meetings. Digital Dragons 2020 will take place on the 15th–18th September 2020 online.
The health and safety of our partners, exhibitors, speakers, and attendees come first. We apologize to you – all, who wished to attend Digital Dragons in its traditional form. This is a dire situation with wildly inconceivable consequences worldwide, and COVID-19 threat can’t be taken lightly.
We do not plan any changes to the established formula of Digital Dragons. Aside from the date, we wish for it to be a Digital Dragons event, as we all know it, only online with all of its necessary components - Indie Showcase, business networking opportunities, knowledgeable lectures & speakers. The digital platform (PINE) allows for a personalized agenda, virtual meeting and sponsors booths, discussions panels, and lectures with the audience and Q&A.
We know that it is a difficult situation, not only for the event industry but for the whole world. We don’t want to cancel Digital Dragons event this year, that’s why we decided to move it online. We still wish to deliver the best possible conference with great talks, speakers, panels, and an opportunity for business meetings with a dedicated app.
-Anna Krampus-Sepielak, head of Digital Dragons
Programme
Most of our speakers will move to online with their talks. As a reminder at Digital Dragons 2020 among lecturers are Remedy representatives - Stuart Macdonald, Juha Vainio, Darkest Dungeons creator Chris Bourassa, Randy Varnell Design Producer of Borderlands 2, Fawzi Mesmar, who worked on Battlefield, Candy Crush and Persona. The full roster is available here.
Our talks will be in tracks (Art in Games, Mobile, Game Design, Technology, Production, Business & Marketing) in two series - morning and evening, to cover the most of the time zones to give an opportunity for the vast majority of attendees.
Indie Showcase
Digital Dragons Indie Celebration, which was our experimental event held in May, was very warmly welcomed, so the team decided to continue the game promotion in a similar manner.
Sixty independent titles will be selected by the jury and presented from 15 to 18 of September at both stores Steam and GOG.com. To take part in the competition, it is necessary to submit your game via the online form on the website. Apart from PC and console games, mobile games can also apply. The jury will award prizes for the Best Indie Games, awarding first, second and third place. There will also be an audience award.
Details of the competition will be announced soon.
In response to the needs and suggestions of the creators, we tried to ensure that the games will gain more visibility and will reach out to the new players. I'm very happy to announce that not only Steam but also GOG.com is joining us to support indie developers during Indie Showcase 2020!
-Maria Błędowska, India Showcase coordinator.
